Portion control is the culprit behind a lot of weight gain. There are many people out there today who exercise regularly and eat all of the right things yet they are still gaining weight. The problem may be eating too much in one sitting. A lot of people feel like they can eat as much as they wish as long as they are eating lean and healthy foods. Well, that is not the case. Even though the food you are consuming is healthy, your body still needs time to break it down effectively.
Usually people define the word serving as the amount of food that they can fit on their plate. This is a big no-no and it can lead to weight gain very quickly. You can take some of the best diet pills, you can suppress your appetite with hoodia pills, but you still have to watch your portion sizes for the sake of your metabolism. When you eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day, your metabolism is able to work more efficiently at breaking down the food. When you eat a couple large meals in a given day, your metabolism ends up working overtime trying to break down the food which eventually leads to sluggish performance and more calories stored. If you wish to improve your metabolic activity, it is also wise to eat your meals at the same time every day.
As far as what food you should be consuming, try to add more veggies and fruit to your daily diet. Be sure that your meal is rich in low calorie foods and low in high calorie foods. You may think that eating a bunch of greens and a small piece of chicken will not sustain your hunger, but that’s where you are wrong. Certain vegetables are so rich in fiber that they sustain hunger longer then a variety of poultry. So if you wish to lose weight, don’t be afraid to make several small changes to your dinner plate.
